DBH Workshops
What do our workshops provide?
Our curriculum is carefully crafted to be engaging and hands-on, whether in virtual or in-person settings. Students dive into a world of creativity through a series of activities that include training, practical work, product packaging, and presentations.
But it's more than just learning technical skills. Our workshops focus on nurturing essential life skills like collaboration, communication, and decision-making. Through fun team-building assignments, students build a strong foundation for future success.
Team-building Skills
Sharpen communication skills in a team structure
Plan, Organize, and Prioritize work under deadlines
Presentation Skills
By 2040, 70% of all jobs will involve coding.
The North Carolina Department of Instruction foresees that by 2040, 70% of ALL jobs, including essential services like driving, will demand coding knowledge.
Why is this crucial for us? Falling behind means being left behind. At DBH, we are dedicated to ensuring that our black and brown communities don't miss out on these opportunities. We believe it's time to prioritize tech education, empowering our communities to thrive in the evolving landscape of opportunities.

I learned the basics of game development and game engine during this session. The way I feel I was able to contribute to ogres mayhem was helping to create the stages and the hit boxes for the characters. My duties were creating the stage intros for stages 4-6, updating the wiki with new transformation information and adding physics to super sonic.
My favorite part of the program is that it's really fun and like a getaway. If you're stressed out with school and other things, you can come to the program and free your mind to focus on things that you like to do.
I was able to learn how to develop songs on Bandlab and become familiar with the program and get more confident in sampling songs. I created three songs to contribute to our album, and I had a lot more if I needed more. I didn't really expect anything coming into the class but I learned a lot and I'd like to take it again.
The DBH community is great and seeing what we built is heartwarming to say that we all worked together on this one project. It's just nice to see people who are interested in the same things that I am because I don't always get to have that.
